professor yu wenjie gives lecture to students and teachers in yunnan universities
in recent years, our professor yu wenjie has been invited to hold academic lectures for the propaganda department of the organization department of the cpc shanghai municipal committee and shanghai century publishing group, the school of foreign languages of peking university, the institute of history of shanghai academy of social sciences, the school of history of east china normal university and other universities and research institutions in the epidemic. 31 march 2023 at 3:00 pm, professor yu wenjie was invited to give an academic lecture to teachers and students of zhaotong college, school of foreign languages and other humanities majors more than 430 students and teachers from yunnan zhaotong college, yunnan university for nationalities, yunnan agricultural university and other universities listened to the academic lecture. professor yu wenjie gave a lecture entitled "teaching and scholarship in an internationalized context - a historical survey of the process of british civilization", which was delivered online. the lecture was hosted by professor cai dan, dean of the school of foreign languages, zhaotong college.
dean cai dan firstly introduced the basic information of professor yu wenjie. professor yu is the vice president of the china society for modern world history, the executive director of the china europe society, the director of the institute of british and commonwealth studies at nanjing university, and the chief expert of the one belt, one road research institute of nanjing university. he has visited and lectured at world-renowned universities and research institutions such as oxford university, cambridge university, university of london and university of edinburgh, etc. he has hosted major international cooperation projects, major bidding projects of the national social science foundation, as well as more than 20 domestic and international projects of the ministry of education, ministry of personnel, ministry of science and technology, etc. he has published nearly 100 papers in ssci journals, history research and other famous academic journals at home and abroad, and published several monographs. he has a large academic influence and a high academic prestige in the academic community at home and abroad.
professor yu started from the history of regional and country studies of britain and other places in nanjing university, especially the outstanding contributions of successive generations of scholars to the study of britain since mr jiang mengyin, the last head of the department of the central university of the republic of china and the first head of the department of nanjing university in the new china, received his phd from britain to serve his country. professor yu wenjie gave a high-level academic lecture to all students and teachers, focusing on the background of research on the history of british civilisation at home and abroad, the exploration of the logical structure and major issues of the history of british civilisation by chinese and foreign experts, the reflection on the concept and discourse system of the study of british civilisation in china, and the exploration and reflection of academic research on the history of british civilisation. the lecture emphasized the importance of establishing chinese concepts, chinese discourse systems and autonomous knowledge systems with critical thinking, and striving to serve the cause of building a global civilization in the new era. professor yu wenjie enthusiastically answered questions from the students and teachers on teaching, research, international exchange and talent training.
